Eeeeekkkkk!!! Has August really come to an end? How oh how did the time managed to escape me? It felt like only yesterday I wrote about my July favourites (read here) and now here I am posting about my August favourites. I swear the older I get, the faster time passes by. Maybe it's just me feeling this way...please tell me I am not the only one feeling this way? It would be refreshing to not be the awkward one for once.
August has been a crazy month for me. There were a few changes in my life and I mean big changes. I was officially unemployed on Saturday, 16 August. For the first time after many years, I am jobless. It felt strange and in the days leading up to my final day reporting to work, there were many anxiety, nervousness and yes, tears. I have always had a job, was always working since I was 19. Not having a job felt like my safety net was forcibly yank from beneath me and it is scary. But as I am typing this now, I must admit that there was nothing for me to worry about. Hubby dearest has been extremely supportive and I am more than happy to be taking up the role of a full time home maker. Besides, I am really looking forward to our new life in Canada which is in less two weeks time! Yay!
Since I am no longer working, my makeup routine has changed tremendously. I still need to look as humanly as possible but the routine is way more simple.
It should be no surprise that Bourjois products dominates August Favourites. Bourjois which a sister company of Chanel has impressed me with the quality of their products. I caught myself reaching for Healthy Mix Serum foundation (review here) almost every day and if you wonder just how much I like this product? Well, so much that I have packed away all my other foundations ready for the move except this one. I just can't get enough of it. It's light, long lasting with a beautiful dewy, healthy finish. What else can I ask for?
A new comer in my makeup collection and the one product that surprised me the most was COVO HD Picturesque Loose Powder* (review here). I did not expect to like this powder as much as I did but it has been absolutely brilliant. I have been using this everyday which is completely unheard of in the House of Platt.
Bourjois Little Round Pot Blusher in Healthy Mix (review here) and 1 Seconde Volume mascara (review here) has permanently been in my makeup rotation in the month of August. Now that I no longer have to go office, natural makeup has been my go to look. The blusher gives me a warm soft healthy glow and the mascara defines my eyes beautifully without going overboard.
A favourite post will not be complete if I don't present one of my top obsession, a lipstick. It would be a crime if a lipstick addict like me did not have a favourite lipstick. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you my beloved and one of MAC's iconic lipstick, Lady Danger. I received compliments every time I wear this shade. It is a gorgeous bright red with a strong orange under tone. This is a matte lipstick that is long wearing but the good news, it's not too drying. I do recommend using a lip balm beforehand to protect your lips.
So that is my short list of August favourites and to be honest, using less makeup has been liberating. What about you? What are your August favourites?
