Recently I had the fabulous opportunity to discover a local British Columbia spa brand that not only concentrate on quality but also on the therapeutic and holistic level. Beauty Through Balance was created by Sherina Jamal and the whole brand centres on local Pacific Seaweed and Canadian Glacial Clay from the Northern Coast of British Columbia, Canada. It's obvious that Sherina took pride and inspiration from her East African/Indian and the products are brilliant testaments of her heritage.

I was kindly sent a selection of products to try and have been thoroughly enjoying most of them. You might have seen me gushing about a few of the products on IG and it's safe to say, these are just brilliant not only in quality but also on the sensory level.

Before moving forward with my thoughts on the products. I do have to mention that the brand doesn't disclose any of the ingredient lists online or at least I failed to find them. That said, Sherina was more than happy to send me the lists and I hope she will consider making them easily accessible in the future because they are pretty bloody awesome.

Glacial Water infused with Organic Cucumber (Cucumis Sativus) Hydrosol and Organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf, Sea Buckthorn Oil (Hippophae Rhamnoides), GreenTea (Camellia Sinensis) Leaf Extract, Cetyll Palmitate, Xanthum Gum, Avocado (Persea Gratissima) Oil, Vegetable Glycerin, Stearic Acid, St. John's Wort (Hypericum Perforatum) Oil, Jojoba (Simmondsia Chinesis) Seed Oil, Rose Hip (Rosa Moschata) Seed Oil, Panthenol, Vitamin E ,Vitamin B3, Calendula (Calendula Officinals) Oil, Macrocysti Integrifolia Pacific Kelp, Oregon Grape (Mahonia Aquifolium) Root Extract, Borage(Borago Officinalis) Oil, Primrose (Oenothera Biennis) Oil, Carrot (Daucus Carota) Seed Oil, Shiitake (Lentinus Edodes) Extract, Reishi (Ganoderma Lucidum)Extract, Lichen (Usnea Barbata ) Extract, Gotu Kola (Centella Asiatica) Extract, Shea Butter Butyrospermum Parkii), Cocoa Seed Butter(Theobroma Cacao), Rooibos (Aspalathus Linearis) Extract, Lycium Barbarum(Goji) Fruit Extract, Coenzyme Q10, Alpha-Lipoic Acid, Squalane (Vegetable source), Chrysanthemum Coccineum Flower Extract, Blue Tansy (Tanacetium Annuum ) Oil, Therapeutic grade Essential oil blend, Gluconolactone & Sodium Benzoate (natural food grade preservative complex) & Calcium Gluconate.

Let's start with one of my favourites, the Pacific Seaweed Facial Moisturizer. It has a lovely spa herbally scent that I thoroughly enjoy (actually all the products have a similar scent) that lingers for a couple of minutes after application. The texture is a strange one but in a good way; it's a lightweight lotion, almost runny but when massaging onto the skin, it turns creamy, richly moisturizing but at the same time, it absorbs within a minute and leaves zero residues or tackiness. I have never tried anything like it and that plus how plush, plump and healthy it leaves my skin makes it a huge winner in my book.

Verdict: I will consider repurchasing in the future. I really love this but I am extremely fickle with moisturizers.

Aqua (Glacial Mineral Water), Vegetable Glycerin, Cetyl alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Coco Caprylate/Caprate, Vegetable Emulsifying Wax(from plant), Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Butter, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) Fruit, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Dimethicone natural Polymer, Macrocystis Intergrifolia (Pacific Kelp), d-alpha Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Vitis Vinefera (Grape) Seed Extract, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate(Vitamin C), Retinyl Palmitate(Vitamin A), Essential Oils, Azulene( Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Oil), (Capryl Glycol, Phenoxyethanol)
Essential oils used: Geranium, Lavender, Roman Chamomile, Sweet Orange, Rosemary, Ylang Ylang

Hands down, the best product from the brand and one of the best if not the very best body lotions I have ever tried. Just like the moisturizer, the texture is a lightweight, almost runny lotion that I was sure it would be too drying for my skin. It turned out to be love at first application! It's so light, absorbs quickly and leaves my skin moisturized more than 24 hours. My shins and elbows, the two most notorious dry areas of my body were silky soft and smooth.

Verdict: I will be repurchasing the full size, can't be without it!

Aqua (Water), Decyl Polyglucose(natural lathering agent plant based), Cocamidopropyl Betain(natural lathering agent coconut and plant based), Canadian Marine Glacial Clay , Camellia Sinensis(Green Tea) Extract, Fucus Vesiculosis Extract(Seaweed Extract), Matricaria chamomilla (Chamomile) extract, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Almond Glycerides, Azulene(Blue Chamomile), Essential Oils. Citric acid and Silver Citrate
Essential oils used: lavender, ylang ylang, sandalwood, sweet orange, peppermint, grapefruit

Not going to lie, I was extremely iffy about this cleanser as it's described as 'for face and body' and I have yet to come across one that cleanses both efficiently. Usually, if it's good for the body then it'll be striping for the face and vice versa.

But because I am living life on the edge, I took this foaming cleanser with me as my only face & body cleanser for my recent 4 days 3 nights camping trip.

Guess what? It was pretty freaking awesome! I used it twice a day (the only makeup I wear is an eyebrow pencil and a brown eyeliner which I remove with facial wipes...don't crucify me) and it cleansed well while leaving my skin feeling fresh and surprisingly moisturized. It performed really well as a body cleanser too and rinsed off easily which is perfect when you are using a public shower!

Verdict: I will repurchase in a heartbeat!

Aqua, Canadian Marine glacial clay, cetearyl olivate(from olives), sorbitan olivate(from olives), cetearyl alcohol, glycerine, caprylic/capric triglyceride, octyl palmitate, Macrocystis integrifolia Pacific kelp, butyrospermum parkii (shea butter), teprenone (RenovageTM) Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4 (Matrixyl®), sodium hyaluronate, xylitol, boron nitride, sclerotium gum, essential oil blend, phenoxyethanol, caprylyl glycol, potassium sorbate.
Essential Oils used: Roman Chamomile & Rose Geranium

I feel like the ongoing theme throughout this post is 'lightweight and almost runny' but there is no other way for me to describe the textures of each product. That said, there is nothing much that I can say about this mask. It's a lovely clay mask that leaves my skin clean, fresh, smooth, soft and hydrated. Yes, you read that right...hydrated. It's also the first clay mask I tried that contains shea butter and peptide. Again, the ingredient list is one of the best I've seen for a clay mask but unlike serum or moisturizer, it's harder to see long term results with a mask.

Verdict: I enjoy this clay mask immensely and will consider repurchasing if my skin misses it once I am done with this jar.

Aqua, cetearyl olivate(from olives), sorbitan olivate(from olives), cetearyl alcohol, caprylic/capric triglyceride, glyerine, octyl palmitate, butyrospermum parkii (shea butter), teprenone (Renovage™) Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4 (Matrixyl®), Canadian marine glacial clay, Integrifolia Pacific kelp. Sodium hyaluronate, xylitol, boron nitride, sclerotium gum, essential oil blend, phenoxyethanol, caprylyl glycol, potassium sorbate.

This serum took me by surprise because I wasn't expecting much from it. I tested it when my skin was breaking out like crazy (one spot after another) and within a week, it actually helped to calm everything down. Did my spots clear up overnight? Nope, but it sure helped to clear up those pesky scarring and pigmentation that usually last for months. I use it only in the evenings and I always wake up to my skin looking very healthy and more supple the next morning. I actually quit using it for roughly a week and I could clearly see the differences in my skin. The dullness was obvious and thanks to that, I have been continuously using this 2-3 times a week to maintain my skin.

Verdict: Love at first use and another product that I will be repurchasing.

I am beyond happy to discover this brand and have a couple more products to share in another post. Beauty Through Balance definitely gained another fan in me!
