CURRENT OVERNIGHT MASKS IN MY ROTATION

My face mask habits have definitely changed over the years; from using a sheet mask every single day to twice a week, from loving sheet masks to only loving quick wash-off masks and now, I rely a lot on overnight masks during weekdays and only using proper face masks on weekends.

All the changes are due to the differences in my life; a new job, new hobby but it all boiled down to two common factors; laziness and the lack of time. To combat these two terrible factors, I became hugely dependant on overnight masks to maintain my skin at its best condition.

Over the years, I have loved and repurchased Laneige Sleeping Mask, Laneige Firming Sleeping Mask (hands down the best but I think it has been discontinued or rebranded/reformulated to something else?) and Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin E Mask (reviewed here).

When the last of my Laneige mask ran out, I told myself it's time to discover new frontiers so let's see how I get along with my journey of discovery. Spoiler alert: more mehs than yays.

CBD skincare products seem to be taking over the beauty world recently so naturally, the beauty lover in me is curious if the products are worth the hype. NxN Nurture by Nature CBD Infused products are made with patent-pending CiBiDinol; a water-dispersible CBD extraction that enhances the delivery of the CBD, helping it to penetrate 30 times more and twice as fast as regular CBD alone allowing better results. CiBiDinol CBD is extracted from Cannabis Sativa Plants (specifically the leaves and flowers) that are carefully grown and harvested without the use of pesticides or petrochemicals. (source)

NxN Beauty Sleep Invisible Hydration Mask* ($24.00/15mL) comes in an opaque plastic bottle with a pump to ensure the product freshness and quality. It's infused with 45mg of CBD but what's remarkable is the rest of the ingredient list.

Water (Aqua), Dimethicone, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Cyclodextrin (and) Cannabidiol, Coccoloba Uvifera (Seagrape) Fruit Extract, Codium Fragile (Seaweed) Extract, Enteromorpha Compressa (Algae) Extract, Glycyrrhiza Uralensis (Licorice) Root Extract*, Porphyridium Cruentum(Red Algae) Extract, Salvia Hispanica (Chia) Seed Extract*, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter*, Caryodendron Orinocense (Cacay) Seed Oil, Cucurbita Pepe (Pumpkin) Seed Oil*, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil*, Glycerin, Sea Water, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Hexylene Glycol, Propanediol, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance (Parfum)**
*Organic
**Natural fragrance with Citrus, Ylang Ylang, Juniper, Clove and Sandalwood Oil

It's rich with antioxidants and my skin is loving this mask. I use it twice a week; two pumps as the last step of my evening skincare routine and I wake up with soft, smooth and glowing skin the very next morning. The texture is a very lightweight gel that absorbs quickly so it would suits even oily skin lovelies. If you are worried about fragrance as it's listed at the very end, rest assured that I didn't detect any and I would describe this as almost scentless.

Verdict: Highly recommended!

If you have been following me for a while then you know Dermalogica is one of my top three skincare brands. Sound Sleep Cocoon Mask ($111.00CAD/50mL) has been in my list to buy since it was first launched but I hesitated because of the price. So when Sephora had a promo code for it, I placed two orders and received two 7mL samples.

Let's just say, I am happy that I tested the samples first.

Water, Dimethicone, Glycerin, Propanediol, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Albizia Julibrissin Bark Extract, Dimethicone/PEG-10/15 Crosspolymer, Sodium Chloride, Evodia Rutaecarpa Fruit Extract, Lavandula Hybrida Abrial Herb Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Terminalia Ferdinandiana Fruit Extract, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Tamarindus Indica Seed Polysaccharide, Dipropylene Glycol, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower Extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, Fusanus Spicatus Wood Oil, Pogostemon Cablin Leaf Oil, Sodium Citrate, PEG-10 Dimethicone, Hexanediol, Polyurethane Crosspolymer-1, Limonene, Tocopherol, Citric Acid, Linalool, Phenoxyethanol.

I had high hopes for this and judging from the ingredient list, I thought my skin would love it. Yea, no...this made my skin goes downhill from the first try. The texture is absolutely lovely; a lightweight gel-cream with the usual heavenly Dermalogica scent, it absorbs quickly but my skin felt dry and parched within half an hour. I thought I was just being picky because this stuff is expensiveeeee but my skin was not happy the next morning. It felt tight, dry and parched and I had to layer lots of hydrating products to balance it again. I tried 4 times (because I'm stupid like that) and the results are the same each time.

Verdict? Yea, no thanks...

Youth To The People Superberry Hydrate + Glow Dream Mask ($63.00/59mL) came so highly recommended by everyone. Almost every beauty lover I know swears by it so when Sephora had a very generous promo code, I placed a few order and received 4 sample sizes which equalled to a full size. I passed on two to a very dear friend of mine, Lily and I excitedly tested this for a month. It has a brilliant ingredient list plus amazing reviews so my hopes were exceptionally high.

Water, Glycerin, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Glyceryl Stearate, Cetyl Alcohol, Betaine, Isopropyl Myristate, Stearic Acid, Opuntia Tuna (Prickly Pear) Extract, Euterpe Oleracea (Acai) Fruit Extract, Lycium Barbarum (Goji) Extract, Aristotelia Chilensis (Maqui) Fruit Extract, Moringa Oleifera Leaf Extract, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate (Vitamin C), Phenoxyethanol, Glyceryl Stearyl Citrate,Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Glyceryl Laurate, Squalane Olive, Carbomer, Hyaluronic Acid, Allantoin, Panthenol (Vitamin B5), Ethylhexylglycerin, Xanthan Gum, Natural Fragrance, Riboflavin (Vitamin B2).

This mask is a thick cream with a soft citrusy scent. It doesn't absorb quickly, actually, it doesn't absorb at all. Regardless of how little the amount I used, applying it straight onto clean skin right after cleansing or as the last step of my routine, it just sits on top of my skin. It remains tacky and I could feel it on my pillowcase. The results are mediocre; a touch brightness and smoothness but if I am to be completely honest, my skin looks oily when I wake up the next morning and I have dry-normal skin!

Verdict? Sorry, this is a pass for me.

Last but not least, Dr. Brandt Hydro Biotic Recovery Sleeping Mask ($68.00CAD/1.7oz) which I received through September BoxyLuxe. This tube contains the same amount as the one sold on Sephora and the only difference is the packaging. This tube must be a collaboration with BoxyCharm while the usual one comes in a jar. Personally, I prefer this tube packaging as it's more hygienic and avoids wastage.

Water, Dimethicone, Propanediol, Glycerin, Sodium Chloride, Dimethicone Peg-10/15 Crosspolymer, Lactococcus Ferment Lysate, Hexyldecanol, Inulin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Sodium Benzoate, Yogurt Powder, Peg-10 Dimethicone, Butylene Glycol, Tamarindus Indica Seed Polysaccharide, Sodium Citrate, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Tocopheryl Acetate, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Bisabolol, Cetylhydroxyproline Palmitamide, Stearic Acid, Honey, Brassica Campestris (Rapeseed) Sterols, Rosa Damascena Flower Oil, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Phenoxyethanol, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Extract, Boswellia Serrata Extract, Honey Extract, Sodium Copper Chlorophyllin, Aspalathus Linearis (Rooibos) Extract, Saccharomyces Polypeptides.

The texture is your usual gel-cream that absorbs quickly. Once absorbs, it creates almost like a protective film over the skin. It doesn't feel tacky, actually, it feels like nothing on the skin. I use it as the last step in my evening routine, over my night cream as it's not hydrating enough to be used on its own.

My skin absolutely love this! I wake up the next morning and my skin looks like I had the best sleep of my life. It's smooth, soft, very bright and radiant but most importantly, my skin looks younger. As much as I adore this sleeping mask, there is one downside to it. It's quite highly scented which doesn't bother me because I love its scent however if you are sensitive to fragrance it is best to sample it first.

Verdict? 100% recommended!

If you made it this far down the post then you are my favourite superhuman! Let me know if you have tried any of these overnight masks and your experience with them. Also, let me know what is your favourite overnight mask and I will add it into my list to try.
