Revisiting The Forgotten Favourites Vol: 1

This year I have made a mental note to spend less time (and money 😅) chasing after new launches and instead spending more time going through my beauty stash to rediscover long forgotten favourites. And today's post will be the first of what I hope to be a new series where I will feature some of my old beauty product crushes.

I had some alone time this week when my dearest MIL took Little Tyke to his music class and I quietly sat down and slowly went through my stash. I was surprised at how many lovely memories came flooding in when I saw something that I used to reached for non-stop. The list is long but in order not to bore you lovelies to death and I do need to keep some for more posts in this series, I managed to narrow the list down to these few products.

Remember the days when Smashbox was cool? Or at least I thought they were when I first touched down Canada at the end of 2014. Smashbox Full Exposure (reviewed here) was the second high end palette I owned after Urban Decay Naked palette and sadly, I rarely use both. I wasn't wearing eyeshadow a lot back then and if I did then it was only a very light sweep of one or two shades which is why most of the eyeshadows are barely used.

Annabelle Eyeshadow Quad (Chai Chai Chai) (reviewed here) definitely brought a smile to my face when I picked it up from the bottom of my eyeshadow stash. I remembered how pigmented and buttery soft the eyeshadows are and honestly have no idea why I stopped using it.

I look forward to start using both palettes again and hopefully this time I'll get more use out of both.

NYX Powder Blush are some of the best blushers in the drugstore and both were my go-to for ages! I have three in my collection; Dusty Rose, Mocha (not in picture because the poor bugger was buried under everything else) and Pinched and I love all three equally. The ones I have are the old version hence the packaging is different. They are pigmented, blend beautifully and last for ages on me. I plan to hit pan on at least one of these so wish me luck!

Rimmel Stay Matte powder was my first and only powder that I used for years and I actually repurchased it 3-4 times. It was amazing at keeping my skin and makeup in place in the hot and humid Malaysia but I almost never reach for it now that I am living in Canada. I bought this powder a couple of years ago and as you can see, it's barely used and I plan to change that this year. Let's see if I still love it as much as I used to.

Last but not least, I am hoping to get more use out of Beautycounter Tint Skin* (reviewed here). I have been going makeup or at least base product free recently so I thought this foundation is appropriate for the days I want my skin to look more even and polished. It has little to no coverage but is amazing at making my skin look healthy so I look forward to adding this into my makeup rotation again.

So there you have it guys, my recent rediscoveries and I hope you enjoy the post. Let me know if I should make this into a regular series (and yes, this time I really will make it into a series instead of another empty promise) or if you are not a fan of it, all constructive criticism is welcome!

What are your recent rediscoveries? Let me know in the comment below!

*Product marked with * was received for free but my thoughts and opinions are 100% unbiased, honest and my own. There is no place for any sort of BS here.

  1. This is such a coincidence! I decided to do the same and I also started using my Peach blush from Nyx and the Rimmel Stay Matte powder! There are many amazing products that we forget just because we get new things, that's why I've been doing rotations with my everyday makeup bag every two weeks lately :) I love the idea of this post, I'm excited to read part 2!
