REVIEW: COVO HD Picturesque Loose Powder SPF 10

My relationship with loose powder goes a long way back. Our relationship is like a woman on PMS, there are the rare good days, the bad days and then, there are the screaming, throwing darts/vase/whatever that is in my hands-will-land-on-your-head days. It's the bloody charm of having dry, borderline very dry skin. Loose powder has always magically enhance my dry patches especially around my eyes and nose area. Yes, the same areas where I need a little powdering so my foundation will last throughout the day. What can I say? I am oh-so lucky...

Recently I was given the chance to try COVO HD Picturesque Loose Powder SPF 10* by Ms. Julie Wong, the founder of COVO Cosmectics herself. COVO (COsmetic eVOlution) is a local Malaysian brand which believes in Luxe for Less. This means you get top quality products for less price. Their products are animal derivatives free, not tested on animals which makes them a cruelty free brand or as explained by Julie, COVO is vegan.

For those of you who have been following my blog, you might recall my not-so-pleasant first encounter with COVO HD BB Cream (review here). I was sceptical at first, like I always am but since this is one of COVO best selling product, I thought why not? I have seen the worst of what a loose powder can do to my skin so how bad can it be?

The answer? Not bad, not bad at all and to be perfectly honest, I am very impressed with this powder. I like it so much that I have been using it everyday and that ladies&gentlemen, is a very rare occurrence with me.

I received the shade Nude which is a yellow tone powder and is a perfect match with my skin. This powder gives medium to full coverage with a matte finish but it did not look cakey nor did it make my face look flat. On the contrary, it actually looks very natural and gives an almost airbrush look on my skin. I have been suffering from dry patches around my eye areas again (yay!) but this did not highlight or emphasize any of it. This powder has been put to test under the hot Malaysia sun, humidity and rain and I am happy to report it withstood the test very well. It did a great job in keeping my face looking fresh throughout the day and I did not need to blot my face, not even once.

Now let's talk about the packaging of this product. It is a black plastic case which gives it a sleek and chic look so thumbs up for that. When I first saw it, I vaguely remembered that I have seen another product with a similar packaging but it is only when I got home and do a quick online search that I recalled that this packaging is similar to NYX HD Studio Photogenic Grinding Powder. I must admit that the packaging struck me as gimmicky at first but I am happy to discover that it actually works. It really does minimize wastage and I am able to control the amount of powder I needed by twisting the grinder. I do wish that the powder is more finely milled but that is me nitpicking as usual.

I cannot fault this product, I tried but there is not one thing that I do not like about it. Another huge plus point for this powder is it has SPF10 so what more a girlie can ask, ay? It is easy to see why this loose powder is one of COVO's best selling product. Definitely a must have in my book and I am planning to purchase a couple more before leaving for Canada.

Edit: I forgot to state that even though this product is a HD powder and has SPF in it, I had no white cast on my face when my picture is taken with flash. Another reason why this product is fantastic.
