Winter Saviours: Latest Additions To My Routine

I will forever remember the Winter of 2016 as the year of Snowmageddon. Yes, it's also the title of the absolutely face-palm TV movie that should have never been released in the first place. More importantly, a movie that Mr. Platt and I should have never ever watched. We went through a phase where we made ourselves sit down and watch painfully cringe worthy movies to pass the time.

This idea of torture was initiated by yours truly because I made Mr. Platt accompany me to watch Sharknado. And until today, I can't fantom why I thought it was a good idea at the first place....

Shark + Tornado = whatthefuckweretheythinking?!!

Anyhoo, we are not here to discuss my poor choices in what I consider as watch-worthy and nor are we here to discuss Mr. Platt and my idea of passing time, we are here to discuss two products that were my absolute Winter skin saviours.

First of all, I can't believe how freaking budget friendly this body lotion is. I mean $9.99 for 236mL of pure goodness. I am a long time user of body lotion, cream, moisturizers, whatever you want to call it and this has to be one of my top three all time favourites.

The scentless body lotion looks very thick when it's first dispensed from the tube but it feels light, almost airy as I massage it into the skin. It absorbs almost instantly leaving zero residue and initially it got me really worried that it wouldn't be moisturizing enough.

I couldn't be more wrong. The super moisturizing complex of Cocoa Butter, Evening Primrose, Argan oil and CoQ10 made this body lotion one of the most hydrating formulas that I have ever used. It's also enriched with multiple organic fruit, flower and leaf extracts; in short, this tube is filled with fabulousness. The dry, scaly skin on my shins was gone within two days and my skin remained moisturized throughout the day without the need of reapplication.

I have been adding 3-4 drops of Rosehip oil with my other body lotions in order to keep my skin moisturized this winter but Acure Ultra-Hydrating Body Lotion* is perfect on its own.

Scentless, absorbs instantly without any residue and with a kick arse ingredient list for $9.99, what else can I ask for? Get it, you need this and have I stressed enough how much I love this? This will definitely be a repurchase for me!

Ingredient list: Camellia Japonica Seed Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Coco-Caprylate/Caprate, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Oil, Squalane, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Undaria Pinnatifida Extract, Phellodendron Amurense Bark Extract, Hordeum Distichon (Barley) Extract, Santalum Album (Sandalwood) Extract, Tocopherol, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil, Eugenia Caryophyllus (Clove) Leaf Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil.

I am a long time user of facial oils in my skincare routine and have tried plenty throughout the years but none, I stress none amazed me as much as this scentless oil. The texture is light, absorbs quickly and leaves almost no greasiness on the skin despite using 3-4 drops.

This oil is rich with anti-oxidants, Omega 6 and 9 and aims to hydrate, firm, minimize fine lines, even out skin tone and protect the skin from UV and free radical damage. Now, I have not been using this oil long enough to notice all the claims but I do notice my skin has been very clear, radiant and my stubborn spots are almost non-existent. My persistent itchy dry spots around my forehead are also gone for good.

Frankly, my skin has been so fresh, clear and radiant that I have been leaving the house without any base makeup. My go to makeup these days has been a tiny bit of concealer under the eyes, eyebrow pencil, eyeliner, mascara and lipstick. I dare say my current skin condition is better than how it was 10 years ago and I credit my new skincare routine for it.

Winter has definitely been extremely rough for me this time, not only was the cold unbearable, it also wreaked havoc on my skin. Thankfully I managed to keep the Winter dryness under control with the addition of these beauties.

How was Winter on your side? What were your Winter skin saviours?
