The Dresses You Need This Summer*

Fashion may not be everyone’s strong point, but every woman knows that dresses are wardrobe staples for the summer, and with the season quickly approaching, we’re all getting ready to throw on these no-fuss pieces and flaunt a little more skin. As Marie Claire shares, “Whether you’re after something casual or something a bit more fancy, a dress is the easiest way to ensure you feel confident.”

Although looking at this summer’s trends, some of us aren’t too fond of the idea of baring it all with a slip dress, or feel that ruffles would make them look like they’re part of a mariachi band. Rather than blindly following trends, it’s better to stick with the classics, and the items that you’re comfortable with. Additionally, if you’re feeling a bit experimental, fashion experts from Lyst suggest that you choose basics with a twist, such as opting for an off-shoulder denim maxi by Chloé as shown on a collection of blogger approved summer holiday dresses.

Purchasing a dress can be difficult when you have no idea what to look for. Narrowing your search down by certain criteria can help. For example, you need to choose a dress length you feel comfortable with. There are several lengths from which to pick, but one popular option is a midi dress. Any dress that falls to a length about halfway down your calves is a midi dress. Although it is a type of dress you can wear anywhere, it can make your legs seem a little shorter than you may like. That problem is easily fixed by wearing some heels with your midi dress. You can also select colors or patterns designed to give the appearance of height.

But if you still feel like certain styles are too risky for your taste, here are a few easy-to-wear dresses suited for the down-to-earth girls, even those that feel clueless when it comes to fashion.

One of the most essential pieces you need in your summer wardrobe is the maxi dress. While they do come in various styles, these ankle length frocks are versatile enough to pull off during daytime errands and nighttime affairs, as a beach coverup or a city weekend outfit.
