MAKEUP LATELY: THE ONES YOU NEED TO KNOW

The older I get, I find my taste in many things seems to change. Some call it becoming wiser but I just quit giving an arse and start having no zero towards bullshit. Whichever it is, I do think I change for the better.

On the beauty front, my low buy is progressing extremely well, so much so that I am surprised at myself. I guess I started seeing through all the marketing mumbo jumbo and understand that no matter how much hype the new launches get, at the end of the day, they are all pretty much the same thing but marketed differently.

This new approach towards beauty also means I have a new found appreciation for genuinely good and unique products and brands who truly put a lot of thought, care and love into their releases.

One brand, in particular, is The Organic Skin Co. which by now some of you probably think I am paid to talk only positive reviews on their products. The answer is a big, fat, very firm no. They are just brilliant in quality and I truly enjoy most that I tried.

PRIMP N' PRIME ROSE GOLD* ($63.00CAD/50mL)

INGREDIENT:
Aloe barbadensis (aloe vera) leaf juice*, caprylic/capric triglyceride, propanediol, cetearyl alcohol, vegetable glycerine*, magnesium stearate, glyceryl stearate citrate, glyceryl monostearate, lonicera caprifolium (honeysuckle) supercritical extract, aqua (water), lonicera japonica (honeysuckle) supercritical extract, xanthan gum, citrus sinensis (sweet orange) essential oil, helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, potassium sorbate, rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) supercritical extract, phyllanthus emblica (amla) berry supercritical extract*, punica granatum (pomegranate) seed supercritical extract*. *organic*

I instantly knew I was in for a treat when I saw Aloe Vera Juice is listed as the first ingredient. This primer is vegan, cruelty-free and is rich with plant extracts and oils so it doubles up as brilliant skincare.

The texture is creamy lotion and it leaves a slightly tacky finish on the skin which I discover to help to grip and prolong my makeup. It doesn't have any glitter or shimmer (thank goodness!), instead, it leaves a slight sheen that gives the illusion of healthy skin. It doesn't ball up over my skincare or under my foundations making it an easy and reliable product.

Repurchase? Yes! It's a brilliant primer which is also an amazing skin food.

FRESH CANVAS IN SHADE SOFT HONEY* AND CARAMEL* ($57.00CAD/40mL)

INGREDIENT:
Aloe barbadensis (aloe vera) leaf juice*, caprylic/capric triglyceride, ricinus communis (castor) seed oil*, propanediol, glyceryl stearate citrate, cetearyl alcohol, magnesium stearate, rosa rubiginosa (rosehip) seed oil, simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil*, lonicera caprifolium (honeysuckle) supercritical extract, aqua (water), lonicera japonica (honeysuckle) supercritical extract, helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) supercritical extract, xanthan gum, potassium sorbate, seabuckthorn (hippophae rhamnoides) supercritical extract*, punica granatum (pomegranate) seed supercritical extract*. *organic*

How many ways can I gush about a product? Brilliant ingredient list, unique finish and makes my skin looks and feels amazing.

Just like the primer, these foundations are vegan, cruelty-free and Aloe Vera Juice is listed as the first ingredient. These are also rich with antioxidants and are made with 73.05% organic ingredients.

Not going to lie, the texture surprised me initially as it's a thick cream and I thought it would give me cake face but it blended into nothing. Yes, you read that right...into nothing. It's invisible on the skin and yet, it has the magical ability to blur out my pores and fine lines. I swear it makes my skin looks younger, healthier and more radiant.

Is there a downside? Yes, the shade range is very limited and if you are anything darker than medium skin tone then you are pretty much out of luck. I have to mix Soft Honey* and Caramel* and I am light-medium skin tone. That said, I do understand why there are such small shade range. They are a smaller, family own business but I hope they will consider expanding the range in the future.

Repurchase? Yes, I adore these and have been wearing them almost every day and I love that they have amazing ingredient list too. Again, these are skin food!

The Organic Skin Co. is here to impress, commit and deliver the best of the best to their customers. Whether you are a clean, green beauty lover or just a beauty enthusiast who is searching for high quality beauty products, I highly recommend checking out this brand.

I promise that you will be an instant convert.
