DISAPPOINTING BEAUTY PRODUCTS OF 2018

Oh yes, the time has come for me to publish my beauty disappointments of 2018. The list is extremely short and quite frankly, I had a hard time trying to put together this post. It wasn't because this year has been an absolute 100% success with beauty stuff, there were many duds but none that I would go as far as to say they were a complete waste of money.

These 5 products however, instantly came into my mind when I decided to write this post. Some are not worth the money and others, well, they did fuck all for me. Why are they still in my stash? Because sometimes, I'm too stupid for my own good.

Disclaimer: (because I know there will be some of you who will grab the pitchforks because these are products you love)
Just because these products don't work for me...okay, I fucking hate them...that doesn't mean they are rubbish. We like different things, finishes and have different skin types so while they worked brilliantly for you, they did nothing other than being major letdown for me.

HOURGLASS VEIL TRANSLUCENT SETTING POWDER ($55.00CAD)
beauty, skincare, makeup, Canadian beauty

I think this would be the biggest shock of all because it seems like everyone but me loves this powder. It does nothing for my skin; no blurring, soft focus or airbrush finish, no oil control, nada, absolutely nothing. This is the biggest disappointment of 2018 for me.

BENEFIT PRECISELY, MY BROW PENCIL* ($32.00CAD)
beauty, skincare, makeup, Canadian beauty

Benefit is well known for its brow products so I had high hopes for this but alas, it is just not my cup of tea. Yes, it's very long lasting as my brows still look freshly drawn after 12 hours but I have a problem with the texture. It's too creamy and pigmented for me and despite using the softest, lightest strokes I end up with Instagram brows which doesn't flatter me at all. It's bad enough I have resting bitch face, now I have a pissed off bitch face.

No, just no.

OMOROVICZA CLEANSING FOAM ($100.00CAD/148mL)
beauty, skincare, makeup, Canadian beauty

This brand is loved by everyone and I adore the Thermal Cleansing Balm which I repurchased a couple of times despite the crazy price. So when I saw the opportunity to scoop this deluxe sample size, I bought it off another beauty lover without any hesitation.

It has a decent ingredient list, nothing that wow'ed me and to be honest, I much prefer CeRave Foaming Cleanser which I personally feel has a better ingredient list and makes my skin feel like a million bucks. Just how much do I dislike this? I bought this either early this year or end of last year and I've used it less than 10 times. It leaves my skin feeling tight and very dry and there are so many cleansers which are all around better than it. Hard pass.

LANEIGE EYE SLEEPING MASK ($44.00CAD/25mL)
beauty, skincare, makeup, Canadian beauty

This is quite new to me and I've only been testing it for a couple of weeks but enough for me to make up my mind about it. It has a pretty good ingredient list but I just don't see the point of it. It's too drying to be used by itself, I noticed my fine lines to be more prominent after a week and I don't see the purpose of using it on top of another eye cream.

My point? Invest in a good, hydrating and nourishing eye cream and you don't need multiple products. Your eye areas should not be over layered with products too as you risk getting milia which is a pain to get rid of.

LILAB B. DIVINE DUO LIP AND CHEEK (B. LOVELY) ($56.00CAD/2.2g)
beauty, skincare, makeup, Canadian beauty

If you follow me on Instagram then you might have seen me ranting and cursing about this cream blusher so no surprise it made it onto this list. This brand and its products are so hyped up all over Instagram so I had high expectations.

Don't get me wrong, the product itself is not bad; pigmented, melts into the skin like butter and lasts up to 4-5 hours on me. So what's wrong with it?

2.2g for $56.00CAD is beyond ridiculous and quite frankly is offensive. My Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate Glow Stick retails for $69.00CAD and I get 10g worth of products. Yes, it's a cream highlighter and blush duo but basic math will tell you that I get 5g of product for each meaning it's $34.50CAD for 5g. And it's Tom bloody Ford.

$56.00CAD for 2.2g and for just an okay blusher? Maybe Lilah B. is trying to be Kjaer Weis but to me, they are not and are far from that status. This sort of price range is just taking a piss on me and you and everyone else. It's offensive, it's ridiculous and it's making a mockery out of us.

What's your biggest beauty disappointment of 2018?
