What's New: Sheet Masks In My Current Skincare Rotation

My long standing love affair with facial masks is well documented throughout my blog and it reached a new height in early 2016. I have no idea what triggered my obsession; I went from using facial masks twice a year to one or two every night.

Amongst the endless sea of facial masks in the market these days, sheet masks are one of my top three personal favourites to use. Let's be honest, what is there not to like? The ease of use, the non-messy application and the right one usually leaves me with an instant boost of hydration and radiance.

Today I will be sharing a few sheet masks that I have been testing; the good, the bad and of course, the freaking ugly.

What it is supposed to do:
Deeply hydrates and lock in water to provide moisture to skin. Improves the lack of moisture condition of the skin caused by seasonal changes and prevents the imbalance of oil and water. Works well with collagen and maintains the skin's firmness, reduces wrinkles and enhances its elasticity.

My verdict:
This mask fits perfectly and is slightly thicker than my usual b•liv silk sheet masks (reviewed here and here) and has the same pleasant, soft rose scent like Naruko Rose & Botanic HA Aqua Cubic* and Naruko Rose & Botanic HA Aqua Cubic Night Jelly EX* (reviewed here). Unfortunately this is where the good ends because for some reason this mask stings and makes my skin itch! I had to remove it after 5 minutes because I couldn't take the itch any longer. This has never happened to me before so I have no idea what triggered the reaction. My skin wasn't irritated or anything, it just itched. It's such a huge shame because I know others love this mask because it's very hydrating  but unfortunately my skin doesn't agree with some of the ingredients. 😞

What it is supposed to do:
Prevents aging, hydrates skin, locks in moisture and restores elasticity.

Warning:
Do not use in conjunction with other products which contain high levels of Mandalic Acid, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Salicylic Acid and Alpha Hydroxy Acid.

My verdict:
You guys already know how much I love the sunscreen from this range which I swear improves my skin for the better but holy mama, the price is ridiculous for these sheet masks! C$36.00 for 5 pieces is just bonkers and frankly for that price the sheet masks better clean, cook, wash, do my manicure, pedicure and facial for me.

Is this worth the price? Well, it's...nice. It fits my face perfectly, it's hydrating and I felt a touch of firming after removing the mask but it didn't last until the next morning. I will not be repurchasing.

What it is supposed to do:
High performance brightening and lifting mask specifically made for mature skin. Designed to visibly correct dark spots, refine skin texture and improve overall skin clarity.

My verdict:
I have not seen Magnolia Extract listed as an ingredient in any of my skincare products before this mask and upon researching about it, it seems to be long used as traditional Chinese medicine. Nivea is another brand that uses it in their anti-aging range so obviously I am intrigued.

This mask has a weird-arse fitting so of course I have to include a picture of myself trying to scare the online community. My scary picture aside, I really enjoy this mask. No, I don't see any crazy improvements on my skin after a mere one use but my skin felt fresher, brighter and hydrated. I will be repurchasing this!

What it is supposed to do:
Instantly hydrates, softens and soothes dry skin.

Warning:
Do not use in conjunction with other products which contain high levels of Mandalic AcidVitamin AVitamin CSalicylic Acid and Alpha Hydroxy Acid.

My verdict:
I didn't think I would like this as much as I did especially when Hyaluronic Acid is listed in the middle of the ingredient list but wow, my skin feels so fresh and hydrated after just one use! I love that it has lots of extracts and Niacinamide is listed pretty high and my skin just drinks this up.

I am not the biggest fan of the price but my skin absolutely love this so this will be a repurchase for sure!

My verdict:
I freaking love these masks! Not only do these masks fit perfectly and are soaked with essence, Avon is also not kidding about the radiant and refreshing effect because the result was clear as day from the first use. As soon as I peeled off the mask, I instantly noticed how much clearer, brighter and fresher my skin looked. I swear my skin looked like I just had the best facial of my life. Will I repurchase? Unfortunately I am on the fence about this, the price is crazy expensive especially for a supposedly budget-friendly brand. I am in love with the result but not the price.

What it is supposed to do:
Our face-contouring masks continuously and evenly release royal jelly essence for immediate and enhanced benefits. In minutes, skin looks firmer, toned, and lifted, and feels instantly nourished with moisture.

My verdict:
Similar to the Brightening masks, these fit perfectly on my face and are soaked with lots of essence. While I didn't notice any firming, toning and lifting effects, I definitely experienced similar results as with the Brightening masks. My skin looked really fresh, radiant and hydrated and the effect lasted even after I washed my face the next morning. Will I repurchase? Again, I am on the fence as I personally feel both Anew sheet masks are overpriced.

My love for sheet masks grows stronger with no signs of ever slowing down and I hope to explore more from others brands so if you have any suggestions please leave in the comment down below!
