BRAND SPOTLIGHT: Introducing Raspberrymint

2017 marks three years since my journey of being a beauty blogger started. I cringe whenever I re-read my earlier posts. The pictures were pretty much horrific and taken with then new-ish iPhone 5 and forget about having a theme or pretty backdrop and props, I had no idea what I was doing other than I needed a picture of the product. The writings were equally as horrific, I sound like a young teenager on her 10th Redbulls while screaming 'it's so pretty I'm going to die!!! I love it so buy buy buy!!!'.

I seriously die a little inside each time but it's also a great reminder how much I have grown as a blogger throughout these few short years. And throughout the three years, I notice another thing has bloomed throughout the beauty industry; cruelty free, natural and organic products and brands.

Raspberrymint is the newest kid in town and the creator, Cherish is a registered nurse who is passionate about providing eco-friendly, cruelty-free, organic, natural and high quality products to promote healthy skin. Her products are all handcrafted in small batches to ensure the freshest and best quality to customers.

I was kindly sent three products to try; Argan & Jojoba Body Oil*, Anti-Aging Protective Face Serum* and Pineapple Lip Balm*. These products have been tested for the past month and let's see how I got along with them.

ARGAN & JOJOBA BODY OIL* (C$22.00/30mL)

Ingredients list: coconut oil, grapeseed oil, organic argan oil, organic jojoba oil, organic hemp seed oil, natural flavour oil

I must admit that I was perplexed that a body oil would only come in a 30mL bottle as that's the usual amount for facial oil. I was almost half done with the bottle after a measly 4 usages and if such is the case, this is a very expensive body oil. The only way I could think of to prolong the limited amount is to mix it with my usual body lotions and have been doing so for the past 4 weeks.

The oil has a sweet strawberry scent (Mr. Platt is a huge fan of the scent) and the texture is just like a normal oil however it does take some time to sink into the skin when used by itself. I much prefer using it mixed with my usual body lotion as it doesn't leave me feeling like an oil slick and it actually helps to boost up the hydration factor.

This lavender scented face serum, or oil as I would describe it, has a light oil texture and absorbs relatively quickly into the skin. It reminds me of camellia oil as it's very lightweight and feels next to nothing on the skin. I use this as the last step of my skincare routine to lock in all the moisture and occasionally I mix a couple of drops with my moisturizer.

I don't see any of my fine lines reduced but let's be honest, I don't think any topical products would make a massive improvement to my skin as I am no longer a spring chicken so to speak. Do I love this serum? I do but honestly I find it to be terribly overpriced. C$60.00 for a facial serum/oil is a high end price and it's something I would pay for a very well known brand. The cult favourite Dr. Jart Ceramidin Liquid is retailing for only C$49.00 for a massive 150mL. Another example is the amazing all natural and organic Canadian brand, Delia Organic which has an amazing range of products that I truly love and their prices are extremely reasonable within the C$20.00 - C$40.00 range.

Bottom line, as much as I love this face serum unfortunately I will not be repurchasing due to the price.

Ingredients: beeswax beads, organic shea butter, organic coconut oil, vitamin E, stevia extract powder, natural flavour oils

I am extremely fussy about my lip balms as I have the world's driest lips so I was very hesitant to try this. I love the scent, love the texture of this lip balm however it failed to keep my lips moisturized during winter. I look forward to giving this a try during the warmer months when my lips are not trying to shrivel up like an old prune.

It has been an interesting introduction to Raspberrymint and I appreciate Cherish's dedication to provide high quality products to consumers but I think the price point might be a problem for many.

What are your thoughts on Raspberrymint and which product caught your interest?

*I received these products for free but my thoughts and opinions are 100% unbiased, honest and my own. There is no place for any sort of BS here.
