Vichy Aqualia Thermal ExtraSensitive for Sensitive Skin

Don't you hate it when you look forward to a festive day and your skin suddenly decides it's the best time to go absolutely bonkers? Well, that was me a couple of weeks ago and the terrible part is I only have myself to blame. I was a little over enthusiastic with exfoliating my skin hoping that it would be radiant and smooth alas, it became very angry, very red and extremely raw. I knew something was wrong as soon as I washed off the turmeric mask but the damage was done.

Now here's the catch to this story, I was sent Vichy Aqualia Thermal ExtraSensitive* some time ago but after using it for a few weeks, I discovered that it did almost nothing for my skin. Instead, it made my face look a little oily and took a long time to sink into the skin so originally I was planning to give it a mediocre review until I had this unfortunate incident.

Funny how things work, eh?

Let's talk about the very good, this moisturizer is made without any preservatives, parabens, alcohol and colourant. The texture is in between a lotion and cream, it's neither too thick nor too thin but a comfortable medium and it comes in a bottle with a pump dispenser. It does have a scent to it but it's  a soft pleasant one and doesn't linger however, if you're extremely sensitive to fragrance then it's best to ask for a sample before purchasing.

Before my skin acted up, I can frankly say I disliked this moisturizer. I have dry skin and with winter on full throttle here, my skin is currently very dry but this moisturizer managed to make me look oily and the worst part is I could feel it sitting on top of my face. I woke up the next morning to very soft and fresh looking skin but I personally think there are other creams that offer the same results without making my skin feel uncomfortable.

But as the story went, I instantly reached for this the moment I felt my skin red and raw and it gave my skin an instant soothing effect. I could see the burning redness on both sides of my face calm down and for the first time, my skin quickly absorbed the moisturizer. I did wake up to a few breakouts on the right side of my face but the spots went away after three days of using only this moisturizer. For the first time in years, I skipped my usual serum, facial oils and let a moisturizer alone do its magic. I still have faint scars on my face from the bloody spots but if it wasn't for this moisturizer, I would have suffered a very severe breakout.

If you have very sensitive skin that is prone to breakouts then I highly recommend Vichy Aqualia Thermal ExtraSensitive*. It was my life saver and I will always have it as part of my skincare arsenal.

Vichy Aqualia Thermal ExtraSensitive is retailing for CAD39.50.

Do you have sensitive, breakout prone skin? What's your favourite moisturizer?

*I received this product for free but my thoughts and opinions are 100% unbiased, honest and my own. There is no place for any sort of BS here.
