Beauty Highlights of 2015

As 2015 comes to an end, I have been doing lots of reflections on how the whole year has turned out for me and my family. There were lots of ups and downs but in the end, I think I've learned a lot more about myself. I've discovered strengths that I never knew I had, a stronger passion for cooking and baking and most importantly, I have learned to forgive and love myself. It has been a really good year and I have high hopes that 2016 will shine brighter on the House of Platt.

I'm also extremely proud that my little blog has reached a new peak, one that I never thought it would reach back when I was in Malaysia. I have been blessed with meeting so many lovely people through blogging and I am proud to call a few of them as friends. Reflection of Sanity has also been exposed to so many possibilities, not only I have had wonderful opportunities to work with many brands, I have recently been offered a spot as a SheKnows expert which is one of the biggest highlights of my blogging journey.

So in accordance with the theme of this post, I'll be sharing a few of my beauty highlights of the year 2015. In order not to confuse any of you lovelies, I'll explain that most of these products are not new releases however, I personally have only discovered and rediscovered them this year which is why they are in this post.

SKINCARE
Skincare

I received Bioderma Hydrabio Liat in my Winter Luxebox and this is by far the best cleansing milk that I have ever tried. I don't use it as a makeup remover as it was intended instead, I use it as my morning facial wash. It's so gentle and keeps my skin hydrated, soft and smooth. Unfortunately, it does have a scent to it but it's really pleasant so I don't mind it. THEFACESHOP Mild Papaya Peeling Exfoliant* (reviewed here) is the best exfoliant that I have tried. I've tried Rodial, Dr. Jart's, Vasanti but my skin adores this the best. It's so gentle and my skin instantly looks brighter and feels so much smoother and softer after using this.

Oh yes, Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Lotion is the biggest contributor to why my skin has zero dry spots this winter. While this has been with me since 2014, I started using it twice a day this Autumn and hasn't stopped since so it deserves a spot in this post.

Is anyone surprised that Fillume Volumizing Serum* (reviewed here) made it into this list? I can't stop talking about this serum! It makes my skin looks plump, healthy and it's the perfect base for makeup. Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Skin Therapy Oil is a little miracle in a bottle. I won this facial oil in a giveaway and I didn't expect much from it but holy cow...Best.Facial.Oil.Ever. My dry skin drinks this up and my skin looks bright, well rested, soft, smooth, supple, 'you name it, you got it' the very next morning. This contains retinol so I only use it at night and all I need is 4 drops for both face and neck. I think it's retailing for CAD9.97 on Walmart's site but the low price doesn't reflect how amazing this facial oil is. Seriously, get it!

And last in the skincare department, I've switched to natural deodorant for months now and my go-to is Henri Bernard Crystal Deodorant. I didn't expect much from it but wow, this keeps my underarms dry and fresh despite my sweaty yoga sessions. Again, it's super cheap but brilliant.

MAKEUP

I am still obsessed with pur~lisse BB Tinted Moist Cream SPF30! It's by far the best BB cream that I have used and trust me, I have used manyyyy over the years. It gives the most beautiful natural looking finish and it feels like next to nothing on my skin. I'm almost done with this sample and I will be purchasing full size once I am done with my 'no spending' ban. The struggle is real...#beautybloggerproblem

Becca Shimmering Perfector in shade Opal is beyond stunning. I'm glad I got a travel size of this because I doubt I'll ever finish the full size. A little goes a long way and my skin is so radiant with this. And yes, Nanoblur* (reviewed here) definitely deserves a spot in this post! I love this and gosh, my skin looks absolutely perfect with it. This little tube will last me forever and more because I only need a tiny grain size each time. Pixi Beauty Bronzer in shade Summertime is one of the best multi-purpose products in my collection. Not only does it make the most beautiful bronzer, I also use it as an eyeshadow and I easily achieve the bronze Goddess look with it.

I had a really tough time trying to figure out which lip product I will include in this post and I almost didn't choose any however, I have been wearing Sephora Cream Lip Stain in shade Blackberry Sorbet almost non stop. It's intensely pigmented and is one of the most comfortable wearing liquid lipsticks I've ever tried. It's an absolute stunner and compliments my skin tone well.

Marcelle Duo Eyebrow Pro came into my collection very recently when I purged all my brow products of which some were more than 3 years old. I don't think I'll ever buy another brow product because this does it all! On one end it's a soft pencil and the other is a lightly tinted brow gel so it's all you need for your brow game. No more buying multiple brow products because this duo does it all. NYC Liquid Eyeliner is dirt cheap, I think it's retailing for less that CAD4.00 but it's by far the best liquid liner I've ever used. It's the blackest of black, smooth, dries down matte and doesn't budge until the time you decide to remove it. The formula is very wet and it took me a couple of times to get used to it but wow, this beauty is the reason why my cat eye flick is on point. Givenchy Phenonmenon'Eyes is the mascara that I wish I never met because it's so good to my lashes but so damn pricey. It gives my pathetic lashes length, volume and curl like there's no tomorrow, don't believe me? Look below.
