Beauty Products I Regret Purchasing aka Pain In My Arse

Being a beauty blogger has its pros and cons. Sometimes I think many are under the impression that we have a sixth sense and we keep scoring amazing, magical beauty products. That everything we bought or were kindly sent instantly worked magic on us.

The reality is absolutely different. For me, I personally feel there are more misses than hits or maybe I just suck at picking up the best product for me. So today I am sharing a few of my regrets or as my husband said "all I see is cha-ching, cha-ching, cha-ching going into the trash..." Needless to say, he is less than impressed.

Maybelline
MAYBELLINE AND ME ARE NOT MEANT TO BE

Maybelline FIT Me turned out to be one of the biggest disappointments in my blogging journey. The Fit Me range was not available in Malaysia (not sure if it's available now) so when I arrived in Canada, this was one of the first products that I bought. After reading so many amazing reviews about this foundation, I expected it to be a miracle in a bottle...and it turned out anything but a miracle. It made my dry skin look oily, cakey and just impossible to blend into the skin.

I adore the concealer so naturally I thought Maybelline Instant Age Rewind foundation would blow me away too. It did blow me away but into never-again land. Chop my head off, dangle it on the ceiling and voila! you got yourself a homemade disco ball. If super shiny is your go-to look then this is the foundation for you.

Sonia Kashuk
SONIA KASHUK DIAMOND LIFE 20

It was love at first sight and hate at first use with this eyeshadow quad. I don't mind the matte shade, it's actually pretty, decently pigmented and easy to blend but the shimmer glittery mess was a freaking disaster. It's powdery and almost impossible to blend without getting that crap all over your face and your nostrils.

CoverGirl L'Oreal
THE STORY OF COVERGIRL AND L'ORÉAL

CoverGirl LipPerfection Jumbo Gloss Balm (225) is nothing but an extremely sheer lip balm. The worst part is it made my lips really dry and I have to reapply almost every hour. It's on the pricier side for a drugstore product and a complete waste of money. I haven't had much luck with CoverGirl and I'm starting to think I should give up on the brand.

I had such high hopes for L'Oréal Infallible Lip 2 Step but it turned out to be a complete nightmare. I had no idea that I wasn't supposed to use lip balm before application so for the first week it was a frustrating, hair pulling effort of getting this liquid lipstick to apply evenly and stick to my lips. After reading reviews, I started wearing it without lip balm and it applied so much better however removing it was a freaking nightmare. I even used Bio Oil to remove it but I almost had to scrub my lips off to get everything off. On another note, if you eat something oily, this lipstick will peel and reapplication is patchy and basically impossible without first removing everything. L'Oréal, you're not worth it this time.

I have so many more products that were a complete bust however I recently purged my makeup collection without thinking of creating this post hence I have only these few disappointing products to share.

What about you? Do you have your fair share of disappointing products? What was your biggest disappointment?

ps: Sorry for the silence on Monday, I had one of the worst episodes of insomnia on Sunday night and by 2.00am, I was ready to ram my head into the wall. The worst part was my tossing and turning woke hubby dearest up and in the end, he too had very little sleep. I haven't had such a bad episode in a long time because the medication that I am on has helped me tremendously so no idea what triggered it on Sunday night. I've been sleeping better the past two nights so fingers crossed it's a one off horrid episode.
